Lose Weight Without Even Trying

Published

on

Eating right, losing weight and being healthy all the time is hard, very hard. Especially if you’re just relying on nothing but your willpower alone. Someone brings cupcakes to the office and you just stare at them angrily, telling yourself that you will not indulge yourself. Repeating mantra after mantra over and over again trying anything you can to keep you from those sweet, delectable treats. But midway through your thirteenth mantra you realize that you’ve eaten eight cupcakes and washed it down with a 32oz. soda.

Relying on nothing but willpower is an almost impossible task when it comes to reaching your weight loss goals, but there is an easier way. Here are some strategies that will help you lose weight quickly so you can succeed without having to rely on your wishy-washy willpower.

Stay Away From Junk Food

The best way to not eat junk food is to not have junk food around. If you surround yourself with healthy snacks then you have no choice but to eat healthily. It’s easy to hit the store and buy yourself a treat because in your head the future you has perfect willpower and will be able to give yourself a tasty treat only when the perfect moment arises. But be real with yourself, if you buy a carton of ice cream, odds are you’re going to scarf it down on the ride home. So control the environments you can by keeping the snacks healthy around your home and your office.

Think About Something Else

Even if you keep your house healthy and you remove all the junky snacks around your desk, you’re still going to find some temptations lying around. If you happen across some donuts or cookies or something don’t just try to stare at them and think about how you’re not going to eat them. When you do that, you’re most likely going to start scarfing. Instead, go distract yourself with something else. Think about something fulfilling and exciting like your favorite TV show or an upcoming trip you’re going to take. Plan what you will distract yourself with at the start of the day so when the temptations arise you already know immediately where to go to keep your mind off the sweet, sweet snacks.

Don’t Fight The Urges

Rather than fighting the urges and trying to bury your desires deep down inside of you, try just accepting them. Feel the feeling and try your best to understand it. Odds are, if you do that you will realize that you are not actually hungry, but you are actually just eating because you are compelled to do so. If you face actual hunger then don’t starve yourself, but if you’re just tempted to snack on something unhealthy and a healthy option doesn’t seem like a good option then you probably aren’t really hungry, you’re just experiencing a craving.

Stop!

If you find yourself indulging don’t take the “just this once” approach. Stop yourself immediately and work on something else. Pretty soon you will be able to break free from the habit of slamming waist-expanding snacks and you will take a big step forward in accomplishing your weight loss goals.

Eyelash Adhesive Guide: How to Choose the Right Lash Glue

Published

on

By

Strong retention requires good eyelash extension adhesive. Choosing a lash extension adhesive from the many available might be intimidating, especially for newcomers. Since lash glues include many harsh chemicals, knowing the components, storage conditions, and other details is crucial when picking the best lash extension glue for retention and safety.

This quick review by Lash Professionals https://thelashprofessional.com/ will cover all the critical characteristics you should consider when buying excellent glue. So buckle up and focus!

Eyelash glue ingredients

This part may remind you of chemistry class, but don’t worry—we’ll simplify! Cyanoacrylate is the key component in all eyelash extension glues. It’s a myth that lash adhesives shouldn’t include this chemical. Try, but you won’t locate it without it. There are five varieties of cyanoacrylates, and some should never be used near the eyes.

Avoid Methyl and Methoxy. Even if the first one has the highest adhesion, its fumes are too harsh for eyes. Methoxy is safer, but its adherence is too low to be useful.

Ethyl (medium fumes, high adhesion) and Butyl are safe cyanoacrylates (low fumes, low adhesion). Ethyl retains well without harming the eyes. It may still irritate clients. Butyl rescues the day by knowing sensitive adhesive components.

CLIMATE

Temperature and humidity affect all eyelash extension glues. Consider your environment while buying one. Every respectable glue producer specifies the humidity and temperature range for optimal adhesion. The adhesive droplets you generate throughout the technique will dry faster in humid environments, losing their sticking strength. However, dry weather delays lash glue curing. Miami and New Orleans residents should use humid environment lash adhesive. Lasshing in Las Vegas requires a low-humidity glue.

Day-to-day humidity might vary. If it happens often in your area, get eyelash extension adhesive that can handle 30-70% humidity. Temperature affects all adhesives. Keep your lash glue at 68-73 Fahrenheit.

LASH ADHESIVE DRYING SPEED

Lash adhesives dry differently. We can only suggest picking the one that matches your lashing pace. For instance, new lash artists can’t lash as rapidly as seasoned ones. Use slow-drying glue until you get faster. Start with 2-2.5 sec adhesive for ample time to apply lash extensions without sweating. 1-2 sec adhesive is recommended for medium-skilled lash artists.

Some lash styles require fast-drying glues. Volume and mega volume lash extensions are fashionable currently. Slow dryers don’t work with these techniques, so speed up your lashing if you want to start. If adhesive doesn’t cure quickly, volume and mega fans lose breadth and posture. These lashes require 1-sec glue.

Some clients are allergic to eyelash glue. For such clientele, choose sensitive glue. If your customer has allergies, use latex-free or carbon black-free adhesive. It reduces client skin and eye irritation.

Sensitive lash glues have downsides. Volume and mega volume lash extensions are difficult to make because the drying period is only 2–2.5 seconds. Sensitive adhesives retain less. Such glue lashes last 4-5 weeks, which may be shorter than your customer expects. To control consumer expectations, explain moving to sensitive adhesive.

Beauty Brands are Now Turning Focus on the Home

Published

on

Work-from-home (WFH) arrangements and stay-at-home routines are now preventing many from using their makeup collections. These days, most do not have the opportunity—and need—to wear those red lipsticks or smoky eyeshadows that used to drive women in droves to boutiques, salons, and other beauty stores. In fact, many beauty brands have been experiencing a drastic decrease in sales due, especially, to the prolonged onslaught of the epidemic.

Just last week, Ulta Beauty Inc. reported an 8.9% decline in sales during this last quarter. For the upper echelons of beauty brands and products, the NPD Group reports an unfortunate drop of 17% in sales during this year’s third quarter as compared to that of the same period last year.

Nevertheless, the waning of foot traffic and walk-in clients are only some of the reasons why many beauty brands are experiencing massive setbacks. Experts believe that the reasons are more intricate and convoluted that these mere numbers stipulate. Fortunately, these beauty brands including their retailers and resellers understand the root of the problem.

While it is understandable that most people have no reasons to purchase these beauty brands during this time—due, of course, to the lack of opportunities to dress up during this pandemic—many of these beauty brands draw a bulk of their sales from having prospective clients try on their lipsticks, eyeshadows, pencils, liquids, and creams.

Because of the necessity of heeding the anti-COVID-19 protocols, however, many customers are not provided with this age-old activity. So, the less opportunity to check out this makeup implements in person, the less sales are made.

As it happens, several beauty brands like Sephora and Ulta were forced to label their testers as “For Display Only.” This means, then, that customers are hindered from outrightly experiencing these products first-hand, which causes a huge fall in potential sales. Key selling strategies like open conversation between salesperson and client, for instance, have been made limited as well. To that effect, many of the beauty meccas have become ghost towns since the onset of the pandemic.

However, there is hope for these beauty brands—they can cater to stay-at-home individuals, increasing their products for people who are forced to work from home. Because, beauty and self-care are not only needed outside of the home. It is essential for people to maintain a sliver of their beauty regimen even as they are driven to remain within the enclosures of their houses.

Nail care products saw a 13% increase in sales as compared to last year’s third quarter. Body exfoliating products witnessed a 48% climb as well. Hair colors, masks, and other treatments also saw a 48% sales increase.

There is still hope for these beauty brands, then, if they turn their focus on products that can be utilized within the safety of the home. In truth, these cosmetics can even provide psychological and mental health improvement especially for those who are used to being in beauty salons regularly. These do-it-yourself beauty treatments can help.

A Guide to Better Scalp Care

Published

on

It is frequently easy to disregard the things that we cannot see. With scalp care, for instance, most people simply adopt the habit of shampooing their hair regularly. Some wash their scalps—and hair—daily while others prefer to do so every other day. Depending on your preference, you might even do the washing only once a week.

Nevertheless, beauty experts assert that it is essential to have a better scalp care routine. The scalp is a literal extension of your face and disregarding its condition can easily lead to several conditions including itching, dryness, and irritation—and dandruff. A dirty, uncared-for scalp can potentially become a breeding ground for unwanted parasites like lice, or even cause unnecessary hair loss.

But what does the scalp do for us and why do we need to take better care of it?

The scalp is not different from the skin in the body. Although it grows thicker and longer hair than all the other parts of the body, it is anatomically the same as all the other areas in the human body. The scalp, however, has more oil glands, 100,000 hair follicles, and five levels—or layers—of tissue.

The scalp’s sebaceous glands produce sebum or oil which, then, helps determine the condition of the hair and the scalp’s skin. The specific production of sebum is different from individual to individual. The scalp does not simply provide us with hair. It also protects our skull from infection and trauma. Regular scalp care, then, is important as this promotes both the healthy hair growth and scalp protection.

When questioned about the best scalp care routine, Michelle Henry, a dermatologist, says that a healthy scalp must not have any problems. “We shouldn’t see redness, we shouldn’t see irritation, and we shouldn’t see a lot of scales or buildup. It should not feel tender and it should not have an odor,” she shares. Henry adds that it is always best to consult a dermatologist if you experience any of these scalp conditions.

Scalp care is similar to the overall skin care regimen. The scalp must always be clean, replete of dirt, debris, and oil. Nonetheless, it is also essential to let it stay hydrated. Like with skin hydration, hydrating your scalp must be dependent on the type of scalp you have. For instance, if you have dry scalp, it is recommended that you avoid over-stripping it with scrubbing.

Shampoos and hair conditioners are dependent on the type of scalp you have. If you have an oily scalp, you can use sulfate-free shampoos. You can even purchase a shampoo that exfoliates your scalp. One with sea salt can work wonders. Those with dry scalps, however, must use a scalp toner which helps moisturize the scalp. A moisturizing shampoo and conditioner can also help.

Scalp care is as important as overall skin care. Longer and thicker hair can be achieved when the scalp is allowed to remain healthy, clean, and moisturized. Depending on the type of scalp you have, however, you should only choose products that are entirely right for you.
