Lose Weight Without Even Trying

Published

on

Eating right, losing weight and being healthy all the time is hard, very hard. Especially if you’re just relying on nothing but your willpower alone. Someone brings cupcakes to the office and you just stare at them angrily, telling yourself that you will not indulge yourself. Repeating mantra after mantra over and over again trying anything you can to keep you from those sweet, delectable treats. But midway through your thirteenth mantra you realize that you’ve eaten eight cupcakes and washed it down with a 32oz. soda.

Relying on nothing but willpower is an almost impossible task when it comes to reaching your weight loss goals, but there is an easier way. Here are some strategies that will help you lose weight quickly so you can succeed without having to rely on your wishy-washy willpower.

Stay Away From Junk Food

The best way to not eat junk food is to not have junk food around. If you surround yourself with healthy snacks then you have no choice but to eat healthily. It’s easy to hit the store and buy yourself a treat because in your head the future you has perfect willpower and will be able to give yourself a tasty treat only when the perfect moment arises. But be real with yourself, if you buy a carton of ice cream, odds are you’re going to scarf it down on the ride home. So control the environments you can by keeping the snacks healthy around your home and your office.

Think About Something Else

Even if you keep your house healthy and you remove all the junky snacks around your desk, you’re still going to find some temptations lying around. If you happen across some donuts or cookies or something don’t just try to stare at them and think about how you’re not going to eat them. When you do that, you’re most likely going to start scarfing. Instead, go distract yourself with something else. Think about something fulfilling and exciting like your favorite TV show or an upcoming trip you’re going to take. Plan what you will distract yourself with at the start of the day so when the temptations arise you already know immediately where to go to keep your mind off the sweet, sweet snacks.

Don’t Fight The Urges

Rather than fighting the urges and trying to bury your desires deep down inside of you, try just accepting them. Feel the feeling and try your best to understand it. Odds are, if you do that you will realize that you are not actually hungry, but you are actually just eating because you are compelled to do so. If you face actual hunger then don’t starve yourself, but if you’re just tempted to snack on something unhealthy and a healthy option doesn’t seem like a good option then you probably aren’t really hungry, you’re just experiencing a craving.

Stop!

If you find yourself indulging don’t take the “just this once” approach. Stop yourself immediately and work on something else. Pretty soon you will be able to break free from the habit of slamming waist-expanding snacks and you will take a big step forward in accomplishing your weight loss goals.

Rapid Weight Loss and Healthy Living to Prevent Diabetes

Published

on

A new international study asserts that the best way to prevent diabetes is through maintaining healthy eating, doing regular physical activity, and promoting fast weight loss. Stopping the deadly and prevalent occurrence of diabetes is a major issue all across the world. While numerous lifestyle transitions proclaim a successful prevention of type 2 diabetes, new research stresses the significance of maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle.

To highlight the importance of observing World Diabetes Day, the PREVIEW (PREVention of diabetes through lifestyle Intervention and population studies in Europe and around the World) project points out its recent findings. The study did a comparison between a high-protein-and-low-sugar diet and a moderate-protein-and-moderate-sugar diet in relation to the maintenance of weight and the prevention of diabetes. Combining these two diets with either high-intensity and moderate-intensity exercise was also looked into.

Jennie Brand-Miller, Co-author and Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre, explains that the study provided significant results in connection to the lifestyle modifications that can possibly help people who have the predisposition to develop type 2 diabetes. She points out that there is, indeed, a better way to prevent diabetes.

“Overwhelmingly, participants who lost eight percent or more of their body weight in eight weeks and went on to complete the trial, did not develop diabetes within three years despite regaining some weight,” Brand-Miller stresses.

To prevent diabetes, the research was conducted in a span of three years in several countries simultaneously: Australia, Denmark, Spain, Finland, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, the UK, and New Zealand. The participants went through an eight-week weight reduction stage followed by a three-year weight preservation stage.

To achieve the required eight percent weight loss, the 2,326 participants, who were aged 25-70, had to follow several meal replacements. At the end of the said study, about 97% of the participants were able to maintain satisfactory weight loss. They were also able to prevent diabetes development.

“The most important finding in PREVIEW was the low incidence of diabetes in all groups at the end of the study,” Brand-Miller points out as she reiterates the necessity of maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes especially among those who are predisposed with the condition.

She highlights that there was no significant difference observed between the two diet categories or even between the two exercise intensity categories. Brand-Miller, however, notes that fewer participants who belonged in the high-protein diet category had normal sugar levels. In addition, she mentions that further research may provide better insight into the role of weight loss in the prevention of type 2 diabetes.

Nevertheless, the PREVIEW study provides crucial findings to help prevent diabetes occurrence as the prevalence of this disease is proving to be extensively worrisome. “We believe this approach has been more successful in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes than any previous diabetes prevention study and represents a significant clinical advance in the treatment of pre-diabetes,” she adds.

Black Designers Celebrated During the Milan Fashion Week

Published

on

Five designers were part of the Black Lives Matter campaign in the Italian fashion group of the event. A name inspired by the international movement trending worldwide as a form of protest against racial injustice. However, due to the pandemic, the event was one of the first fashion week’s virtual shows. The digital event named We are made in Italy was filmed at Milan’s grand Palazzo Clerici and hosted the summer/spring 2021 collections of Joy Meribel, Karim Daoudi, Mokudu Fall, Claudia Gisele Ntsama, and Fabiola Manirakiza. As Manirakiza was initially from Burundi, Mokodu Fall and Claudia Giselle Ntsama grew up with a family of tailors from Cameroon. At the same time, Karim Daoudi was born in Morocco, and Joy Meribel grew up in Nigeria. The five designers were mentored by the only black member of the Italian fashion council, Stella Jean. The Italian-Haitian was also campaigning against racism in the industry. According to Jean, Made in Italy used to represent itself around the world as a white concept. However, now it is no longer like this as the new Italy doesn’t want to be part of it.

Going against the grain

According to the Italian high fashion black designers, they believe that it is essential to show the world that Made in Italy doesn’t correspond to any particular color.  They want to abolish the prejudice of being Italian means being white. They claim that this world we live in is a world that only a few know of its existence, and even fewer are able to enjoy it.

However, since the show was dedicated to black Italian designers of Milan’s fashion week for the first time, it’s debut was the marking point in the official calendar. A strong move of the organizers in the hope of highlighting the lack of diversity in the industry.

According to Stella Jean, it is quite depressing to think that most Italian brands enjoyed by worldwide attention have a mass amount of influence on billions of people who don’t even realize that an entire generation in Italy is asking for a voice and space.

Jean demands that the sector governing body support black designers and have called out Italian fashion houses to confront racism.

Making a permanent mark

Some may even say that predominantly, Italy has shown blindness to horrifying racing hiding underneath its skin.

Jean claims that it is unfair that some people remain invisible. Italian brands tend to pretend not to see them and give most of their attention in an inappropriate way towards the Black Lives Matter movements outside of Italy. Instead, they would focus on things happening in the United States while ignoring things happening in their own country. She believes that Italy has a serious racial problem, and if we don’t open the wound now to heal it, it will never heal.

Beauty Care Tips Every Woman Must Know

Published

on

Every woman is beautiful in her own right. She does her routine with exacting femininity and grace that only makes her more attractive, not only to others, but also to herself. It is essential for every woman to know how to take care of herself—physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually—and cultivate a healthy self-image in the process.

For a woman, being beautiful is undeniably an added bonus. This does not, however, disregard the necessity of nurturing other intrinsic aspects including mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Nonetheless, it is essential to establish certain beauty tricks to maintain her looks.

If you are a woman, here are several beauty tips for you:

Green Tea is a Beautifying Agent

Green tea isn’t merely used to promote weight loss and detox. Use green tea to beautify your skin, as well. Used tea bags can serve a secondary purpose as they can be placed under the eyes to lighten those dark circles below the eyes. Green tea can also reduce swelling and eradicate those fine lines.

Removing Lipstick with Sweet Almond Oil

Sweet almond oil can be used to get rid of your lipstick. Dip a ball of cotton in some sweet almond oil and gently rub your lips with it. It’s a cheap makeup remover that can be used to remove all traces of makeup on your face, as well.

Avoid Cosmetics with Comedogenic Ingredients

Comedogenic ingredients in cosmetics clog your pores and irritate your skin. Acne and blemish concealers, for instance, might work well as they cover those dark spots on your skin. However, they can also further exacerbate sensitive skin and even clog your pores. Find alternatives that do not contain comedogenic substances like acetylated lanolin alcohol and ascorbyl palmitate instead.

Vaseline to Shape Your Eyebrows

Vaseline or its generic name, petroleum jelly, has long been used for a variety of purposes. You can also use it to shape your eyebrows. Dab a bit of Vaseline on a Q-tip and use it to groom your eyebrows and even have thicker brows in time.

Coconut Oil before Washing Your Hair

Coconut oil has many benefits. Massage a tablespoon-full of coconut oil in your hair 10 minutes before shampooing. It helps to thicken your hair strands, deepen its color, and even soften your hair.

Patch Tests for Each New Product

Before using new cosmetic products, make sure to do a patch test first. For hair coloring agents, dab a bit of the product behind your ears and leave it there for 24 hours. Do the same for new lotions and creams. If any allergic reaction develops, stop using the product.

Summary

It is highly essential for a woman to continue and improve her regular beauty routine. Physical beauty contributes to self-image and self-worth. Nevertheless, it is equally vital to check new products for substances that may only prove harmful for you in the long run. If at all, consult an expert or read about the different chemicals contained in your cosmetics before even using them on yourself.
