Join us as we try to take on the world of health and fitness! We won’t make you get coffee for us or pick up our pets from doggy daycare. We will, however, let you pitch and write your own articles. Though you may have to transcribe some interviews, as well. If that sounds like a fair deal, read our requirements and expectations below. We are looking for applicants with experience or training in writing, copy editing, and transcription.
Expectations: Pitching and writing stories for our website, We are specifically focused on news stories tied to contemporary culture. Applicants should be familiar with our website, voice, and the type of stories we publish.
Editorial research. Tasks may include finding contact information for sources, covering events, brainstorming interview questions, transcribing interviews, and more.
Original reporting. We expect you to speak to sources for each story you write, as opposed to aggregating the reporting of others or writing blog posts. 15 hours of work each week.
Required Qualifications: Experience pitching stories and writing for a media outlet (this includes student-run publications) or at least one semester of Communications, English, or Journalism courses.
Familiarity with AP or Chicago Style Experience interviewing, transcribing, and conducting editorial research.
