The Healthiest Items On McDonald’s Menu

Let’s make one thing clear right off the bat: basically, nothing at McDonald’s is actually healthy. No matter what the item, there’s something in there that is not natural and shouldn’t exist but it technically tastes like something that does it exist and is much cheaper. With that said… if you find yourself at McDonald’s and simply must order something… here are the healthiest things on their menu.

Technically, you could consider the fruit and yogurt parfait (150 calories) as the healthiest breakfast item on the McDonald’s menu, but that felt like cheating. Therefore we’re left with the 250 calorie and 8 grams of fat Egg White Delight McMuffin. For reference, the classic Egg McMuffin has 290 calories and 12 grams of fat. And, somewhat surprisingly, it’s just as tasty as the Egg McMuffin.

Not much of a surprise here, really. It’s just the smallest and simplest burger on the menu. It accounts for 250 calories and 8 grams of fat, while the much more popular Double Quarter Pounder accounts for a whopping 780 calories and 45 grams of fat. If you simply must have cheese, the basic cheeseburger is only slightly less-healthy with 300 calories and 12 grams of fat.

Many people would think the Filet-O-Fish would be the healthiest sandwich. But they would be wrong! The Filet-O-Fish has 390 calories and 19 grams of fat, while the McChicken has only 350 calories and 15 grams of fat. Don’t ask us what the difference is – we don’t know. And avoid the Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich at all cost. It contains 570 calories and 23 grams of fat.

Those are some pretty delicious sounding buzzwords for what just happens to be the healthiest salad at McDonald’s! Maybe it’s more of a sign of how unhealthy everything is if a salad with bacon and ranch in it is the healthiest. This salad is just barely healthier than the McChicken salad with 320 calories. If you go crispy chicken instead of grilled, you’re gaining an extra 200 calories.

Similar to the reasoning behind the healthiest burger, the kiddie cone is basically the healthiest dessert because it’s the smallest. Almost all desserts from any restaurant are going to be unhealthy, but if you’re like me and basically need something sweet after a meal, then play it safe and go with the kiddie cone. It’s actually only 45 calories!

So there you have it. The healthiest menu items and a very unhealthy restaurant. But they are literally everywhere and sometimes one of the only options, so you never know when this kind of knowledge could come in handy! Stay healthy out there, people.
