Many people already do enjoy running. It’s a great and fun way to get in your daily exercise. But for some us, no matter how hard we try, we just can’t seem to enjoy it all that much. And when we don’t enjoy our exercise, it becomes very easy to get inconsistent or even quit altogether. But we’re here to help. Running can be very fun and we want to help you enjoy it to it’s fullest.

Just follow these simple tips and you should be loving your daily run in no time. It’s as much of a mental exercise as it is a physical one. So get your mind on board and you should be good to go.

SET REASONABLE GOALS

Goals are a great way to find success in anything you do. But make sure they’re reasonable ones that you can actually achieve. This works great when trying to get into a regular running routine. Just start simple: one mile without stopping, around the block ten times, 30 minutes straight, etc. Once you have a set goal for each run, it’s a lot easier to push yourself and make sure you reach your goal. Then, once you do, you feel great about what you just did!

WARM UP

This is key. One major reason people end up bailing on running as their preferred exercise routine is because it’s just painful. And more often than not, it’s painful because they didn’t warm up properly. So be sure to get your body ready for the run. Do some stretches, throw in a few jumping jacks, and start with a casual job. This will raise your body temperature so it will be better prepared for the run ahead, and it will increase your athletic performance.

GEAR UP

Now, we’re not trying to get you to buy anything you don’t need. Trust me, no one’s telling us to say this stuff. But the right gear can be crucial to maximizing your comfort and enjoyment while running. Just remember: comfort and support. Comfort and support! Your shoes should feel light and should cushion your feet all while fitting snugly so there’s very little to no wiggle room.

And for women, an ill-fitting sports bra can be disastrous. Make sure you find some that are – you guessed it – comfortable and supportive!

PUMP YOURSELF UP WITH A GREAT PLAYLIST

Having an energetic playlist to run along to is a great way to ensure you’ll enjoy your run and reach your daily goal. There’s no secret to it, either. Just pick songs that you love and are uptempo. That’s about it!

TAKE THE SCENIC ROUTE

One of the best things about making running your chosen form of exercise is you get to do it outside! Fresh air can do wonders for your mental and physical health. And while you’re at it, you might as well pick the most scenic route available. It doesn’t matter what’s close to you – a river, some mountains, a nice park trail, you name it. Just make the best out of your run and treat yourself to some beautiful scenery.

DON’T FORGET THE POST-RUN STRETCH

Another major reason people end up giving up on running, is they forget the all-important post-run stretch. Many people will finish their run and just jump in the shower and go about their day. But that will leave you groggy and sore. So be sure to stretch it out after your run to keep your muscles fresh and your energy up.
