When it comes to weight loss, we’re almost always looking to lose some belly fat. Sure, sometimes it’s purely a vanity thing. But studies have shown that visceral fat, the kind stored in your abdominal cavity, is actually very detrimental to your body. It has been proven to increase the chances of having a stroke, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

And while there are all kinds of diets and work out routines out there that can help you lose belly fat, sometimes just what you’re drinking can help too! I know it seems silly and fairly inconsequential, but it really can. And we know this because dietitian Jillian Kubala says so! So add at least one of these five drinks to your daily routine to help you ditch some of that belly fat.

WATER

I know. This should be obvious. And maybe we’re wasting our time even including it on this list. But it’s always worth reminding people how good water is for your body! And according to Kabala, “research shows that drinking more water, especially before meals, can reduce overall calorie consumption, which can help you lose excess belly fat.”

And if you’re like me and just plain water can get old and boring, just spice it up a bit! You can add cucumber, mint, or any number of other vegetables and fresh fruit to add some taste.

GINGER TEA

Ginger is always great for your body. Ginger tea is especially helpful for weight loss and it helps reduce hunger and make you feel full. So you’re less likely to eat too much. Also, there have been multiple studies that have shown ginger tea can actually increase your body’s heat production via a process called thermogenesis. Which helps burn more calories!

COFFEE

This may come as a bit of a surprise to some people, but coffee can be really good for you! Caffeine specifically has been linked to weight-loss and, of course, it can definitely be a great pre-workout drink as it gets you pumped up to get after it. And in addition to its weight-loss benefits, new studies have shown that coffee might actually be good for you heart!

MATCHA

Matcha is all the rage right now. And for good reason. It has a lot of antioxidants and catechins which are both great at ramping up your metabolism and therefore increasing fat loss. And, in case you didn’t already know, matcha has caffeine in it! So it carries all the benefits of coffee. Be careful with this one though as some matcha teas involved sugar or milks high in calories. So make sure you know what you’re drinking! 

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Maybe you’ve heard about people drinking this lately. I know I have. And when you hear about its benefits you’ll understand why. By simply adding a spoonful of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water you can slow down your digestion, which in turn will keep you feeling full for longer and therefore keeping you from each too much or too often.
