CHOOSE THE RIGHT STRATEGY
Picking a diet is never easy and it will impact your weight loss efforts, so chose carefully. Don’t choose a diet because it is trending or because your friends are trying it, instead, chose a diet that seems easy for you to maintain. Maintaining a diet is, in fact, the hardest part.
A diet won’t work if you can’t stick to it, so stop cheating and find a healthy eating plan that actually works for you.
FIND YOUR HAPPY PLACE
Working out is not easy and being comfortable where you workout is crucial to keeping up with your routine. So, it’s very important that you chose a gym or workout routine that you will maintain, just like a healthy diet. No gym is created equal, lucky for us most offer a free trial period.
Nothing is worse than not fitting into your gym when you’ve already forked over a year’s worth of dues. Maybe working out at home fits better into your schedule, not to fear, a home workout is often easier to follow. The key here is to be comfortable wherever you get your exercise in.
EAT TO CONTROL HUNGER
We eat to survive and in a diet situation, this thinking is key. You want to eat to keep your hunger at a minimum so you aren’t wasting calories on food that isn’t filling you up. Foods that are high in protein and fiber are the best to fill you up and keep you from snacking hours after a meal. Remember to eat slowly and be aware of what you are putting into your body. Be mindful and be full.
MUSCLE IS YOUR FRIEND
Building muscle will increase your resting metabolic rate, so you will burn calories easier and keep the weight off. One of the biggest mistakes people make during weight loss journeys is not building muscle. Muscle is our friend and greatest companion of this weight loss adventure.
Accountability is what will keep you on track and help keep all the weight off. Not much worse than putting in tons of hard work and sweat to eventually slip and gain all the weight back. SWITCH IT UP
When you first start losing weight, the pounds just seem to fly off, but over time the weight loss will slow and eventually you will plateau, which is the worst. Stop this roadblock from even forming by switching up your workouts regularly.
